A FREUDIAN SLIP?
A few weeks ago, Elon Musk appeared in the Oval Office with President Trump. During that press briefing, Elon was asked the following question:
You have a lot of detractors including a lot of Democrats who say that you’re orchestrating a hostile takeover of government and doing it in a non-transparent way. What’s your response to that criticism?
Elon then deflected from the “hostile takeover” theory and discussed the election outcome.
Just one day after the State of the Union, where President Trump identified Elon as the head of DOGE, Elon was virtually speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference. During this meeting, Elon explicitly expressed his involvement in government as a “corporate takeover.”
To understand the federal government, it is like a corporate takeover at scale, but one where the company is actually in much worse shape than any commercial company could ever be.
During the same virtual call, Elon expressed that the government should “privatize everything we possibly can.” Elon went on to say he felt both the Post Office and Amtrak should be privatized as examples. He also stated, “I think logically we should privatize anything that can reasonably be privatized.”
Elon’s honesty seems to give more insight into DOGE’s purpose and why the gutting of federal agencies is more in line with not being about “fraud” and “bloat,” but the notion that the “Golden Age of America” is the privatization of federal government.
